20 Years of Service
The CMML Flight Service, now known as Mission Flight Services, has on Feb 5/2013 reached the 20 year anniversary of its operation in Zambia! We praise God for His faithfulness and provision over these years. It is only because of Him that we’ve been able to develop an integrated service ministry here in Zambia.
CMML Flight Service was established in 1993 by missionary and pilot Bruce Poidevin, as a result of the growing interest on the part of various CMML missionaries, who desired a way to alleviate some of the difficulties of traveling and transporting goods on Zambia’s unpaved rural roads. Long, arduous journeys from their mission stations to the Copperbelt and/or Lusaka were taking a toll on vehicles, as well as people. Often breakdowns caused delays in travel and more than one fatal accident occurred on these poorly maintained roads.
The Flight Service offered an alternative means of transportation to these hazardous trips. Now, personnel, patients, and supplies could be transported safely and quickly to their destinations. Journeys which used to take days could be accomplished in hours instead.
We thank the Lord for His blessing over these 20 years:
- Enabling the planes to fly safely above the hazardous roads, covering thousands of miles quickly
- Safe flying though all kinds of weather
- Enabling us to meet the specific needs of many missionaries and mission stations
- Provision of hangar, 3 houses, 2 apartments, workshop area and the Lusaka Guest house
We ask you to rejoice and be thankful with us for the Lord’s provision and also to pray for His continued blessing on the work of the Mission Flight Services in Zambia as we look ahead to the next 20 years.
